When you start blogging and face the need to write an About page, you start thinking about how you want people to perceive you, what you want people to know about you and what is just simply Too Much Information. Here’s what I feel comfortable sharing.
I’m 37 years old, oh my god, is that already middle-aged? The grey in my hair says an emphatic YES, but I’d like to think that they’re just the result of too many drunken nights bar-hopping in my 20’s. I grew up loving Wham!, U2, Depeche Mode and Michael Jackson – and no they are not mutually exclusive when you’re 12. Some would say my musical tastes never evolved from that, but I beg to differ. I listen to almost anything, except rap. And techno (is that still around?). And fusion jazz, it gives me a headache.
I’m a Wife and a Mom (I know, now you’re groaning and thinking: not another mommy blog!), a book-lover, a film snob, a scrapbooker, an amateur photographer. I’m a liberal atheist married to a catholic semi-conservative and we are happily married since 6 years (together for 13, but who’s counting, right?).
I have a Master’s degree in Political Science, a Bachelor’s degree in Slavic languages and I’m one thesis short of a Master’s degree in Law. I work in social services, although I’m taking advantage of Sweden’s fantastic parental leave policies and staying home with the kiddos for the time being.
My Husband took a job in Frascati, outside Rome, for a two-year research position and this has given me an opportunity to discover Italy in ways that a week’s vacation simply can’t offer you. This blog is about Italy, about my kids and anything else in between that I happen to think about. I have decided that it’s not going to be about scrapbooking, though, since I started a separate blog for this part of my life. You can visit it here.
Some random things about me:
I drink a glass of red wine almost every night and I don’t even pretend to do it because it’s good for my heart. I just love a glass of good wine. And water, carbonated, thank-you-very-much. I think the only beverage that goes well with a pizza is Coke. I used to see films in the theatre about once or twice a week, but I haven’t been since october 2005, 3 weeks before my first child was born. And I’m sad to say that the last film I saw in the theatre was Sin City. That’s just bloody wrong and pathetic. I was coerced to go, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it ! I’m addicted to Swedish Idol, although I’m a firm hater of reality-TV. I don’t particularly like Italian foods and I think that my spaghetti sauce is better than any other I’ve ever tried. I am a grammar snob, but can’t afford to be one when I’m writing in a foreign language. I find it tremendously annoying when people confuse the words there, their, they’re. I’m a neat-freak living with a half-slob, so we’re trying to find a happy middle. If we can find it under the piles of clothes and toys.
So, that’s me. Pleased to have you visiting my blog.

Hi Minna,
Thanks for stopping by Dirt & Noise. Your life in Italy looks wonderful. What an experience for your children! So how many languages are they learning?
