More visitors!

Two days after my Mom had to return home, a couple of friends of ours from Geneva came for a visit. I haven’t seen them in three years and it was lovely to have them stay with us, to catch up, reconnect. In the 4 days they were here we showed them Grottaferrata (as luck would have it, our town is having its 409th annual Fiera Nazionale di Grottaferrata and we took them there), Frascati, the lake at Castel Gandolfo and we also spent an entire day in Rome.

The warm weather we had when Mom was here had given way to windy and chillier days. We had fun visiting Frascati anyway. Reilika & Yann posing like the lovebirds they are… :)

2009_03_20_0206_resizedGods, I like this girl. You know how it is when you haven’t seen each other in a long time but when you do meet again, it’s like you’ve never been apart? That’s what it’s like with her.

On our day in Rome we showed our guests some of the main sights: The Colosseum, the Capitoline Hill, the palace of Vittorio Emanuele II, Foro Romano, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi.

I dare say that a presentation is redundant?

2009_03_21_0339_resizedThe Carabinieri took offense of our resting on the lawn while waiting for the Hubs and the Bambino to return from a trip to a restroom.

2009_03_21_0345_croppedThe Bambina has just woken up from a nap and that is prime time for some snuggling.

of people surrounding it at all times.

I wish there were pictures like this of me and Hubs, but I never think to ask anyone to take photos of us.

The Bambini adored playing with Yann & Reilika. They played monsters and dragons, they were chased and tossed in the air (amazingly enough, there was no vomiting involved! ), they were read stories to and treated kindly when bathroom intrusion occurred. They will be amazing parents when that day comes.

2009_03_22_0466_resizedOne afternoon we met up with husband’s colleague Roberto and his girl Kristen and went to a cafĂ© to have hot chocolate and crepes with nutella. Yummy!

Well, that’s it for now. We hope it won’t take three years before we see our friends again, in fact we’re already planning a trip to Geneva this summer.

Thanks for the visit, guys!

  1. Lovely pictures!!! What a nice visit – how great they were able to come to Italy to see you. My favourite picture is Daddy’s girl – that is ADORABLE. Definitely frame-able!!

Thanks so much for your kind comments last week on my “what to do with my life” post! It really meant a lot to me – I am still sorting through things and hopefully will have some decisions made soon. Moving to Sweden is in my top 10 list . . . far from family but better day care than Canada :)

  2. I cannot believe how big the kids have gotten, and what fabulous photos you take girl!
You should sell them, they are really beautiful!! :)
