Let’s start with the gross part first.
I’m sick. The kids are sick. Snot everywhere.
The Husband is staying far, far away from us – wise man. Maybe I should just happen to sneeze on him – accidentally, of course – just to share the love a little. Well, the man does come in handy every now and then, so maybe I’ll spare him. Today. Not vouching for tomorrow.
It has been a busy two weeks. But really, really nice, too.
My Mom came for a 6-day visit and brought with her much craved foods, scrap supplies I had ordered online (but hadn’t wanted shipped here, it is Italy after all – no guarantees that anything will actually arrive), books for the kids and me, and the best thing of all; my new love. My birthday present and, HOT DAMN, what a good girl I must have been.

Although I’m shooting with the kit lens, the quality of the pics are head-spinningly better than with my previous hybrid Sony. Of course the Sony has a incomparably better zoom than the Canon’s 18-55 mm lens, but just you wait: come Christmas this girl is doing some serious lens shopping! I’m already spending an unhealthy amount of time researching my options… Oh dear gods, someone take my credit cards away.
Here are a few shots with my new love. (Don’t worry: Hubs is OK with this addition to our relationship.
)
Shot this at f/4.0, meant to have the focus on her eyes, but she lowered her head just a tad and I ended up focusing on her hair. I still like this shot a lot, it shows the Bambina’s impish personality.
My Mom enjoying the sunny and warm weather.
We spent one morning in Ostia, where Mom and I could enjoy a caffe latte (or two) and some apple cake while sitting in the sun and the kids got free run of the beach.

The Bambino loves the sea. And the beach. To him it is magical.
My Mom had to go home sooner than I would have liked, but we were not without company for long. However, this post is plenty long as it is, so I will write all about it next time.
So long!

Fantastic pictures! Would love to be sitting there in the sun with a Cafe Latte in my hand!
Thanks Mick! I hear you’re enjoying spring and some sunshine up there as well!
I love your new toy!!! I never get to spend enought time with mine, either I am tired or he is not in the mode… We still have some communication issues and I am sometimes not as sensitive as I should be, but hey, still learning… hoping that one day we will be very close and inseparable…
Looking forward to this summer, cant wait!!! Work is good but I am knackered every evening, brushing my teeth is a major exercise.
Bambina is gorgeous and the photo is amazing!!
Hugs en masse!!!
Love the new camera!! We got a Nikon D70 at Christmas time and are still learning how to use it. And I SO hear you on the lens, I am saving up my meager bits of money here and there in hopes to have a new one soon. I love the last photo – makes me miss the water so much . . .
Hey Mins,
Love the photos, and LOVE your camera…I have the same one.
It takes faboo photos huh, we should talk lenses sometime…it is a small addiction of mine. lol
